Monkton Boat House

The proposals were to seek Planning Permission for the new roof structure and refurbishment of the Monkton School Boathouse, providing improved storage and sporting facilities. NSA have approached the design of the alteration in a way that enhances its environment and responds to its context.

The proposals have been designed in a manner that upgrades the appearance of the ‘boat sheds’ into ‘boat houses’ and is sympathetic to the existing contextual scale and architectural vernacular within an agricultural setting. This appearance respects its Grade 1 Listed neighbour ‘Dundas Aqueduct’ which will be wholly untouched and unaffected by the works.
