this gymnasium extension takes into careful consideration the issues of scale, massing and material finish to allow the scheme to blend into the context of the existing indoor swimming pool (completed by NSA in 1997). Elevational treatrment of the addition continues the rhythm of the existing building’s fenestration and overcome the challenges imposed by the geometry of the previous design. Rendered walls maintain the established relationship with the red brick gable elevation. High insulation values for an occasionally used space allow quick heat-up or summer cool down requirements of the space
