st dionis mission hall 2003 parsons green • fulham

engaged to fit out an existing first floor below the high vaulted roof of a victorian mission hall attached to st dionis church, all on a very constrained budget and where we are also provide a role as quinquennial inspecting architects. The historic building had a natural beauty and a presence which nsa aimed to enhance in a sensitive manner using the volume and design of the space which included the trussed roof to provide an all important ‘wow’ factor. The design for the first floor had to meet the requirements of a broad user base and underfloor heating was employed to create comfort in the user’s zone of operation. Opportunity to ‘rev-up’ the design was taken in the balustrades that face the double height windows and a timber floor lends a feeling of natural warmth to the space
