country house 1997 whitchurch • hampshire
an eight-bedroom country house in Hampshire was constructed behind the retained 19th Century façade of an otherwise demolished five-bedroom house. Constructed in brick and flint on three floors with rooms at each level linked by an open galleried hall and staircase, the design was instructed as a conventional house with exceptional and generous family and reception areas. High insulation values and natural ventilation in a deep plan that is a departure from usual practice ethos for house design, made an extraordinarily comfortable environment that is both homely and grand. State of the art electronic lighting systems were employed and we have been privileged to obtain consents and be commissioned to build out 6 other phases of building on the property. A 25 meter indoor pool was the first and a earth-bermed garden room the last
